Condition: Unilateral above-knee amputee
Experience: Married and a father of two young children, this active family man and outdoorsman loved to play soccer, go fishing and swimming. He enjoyed taking the kids to the park and just being outside with his family. His life was drastically altered when he lost his leg due to a car accident while working for a landscaping company.
Through Mission Gait, Samuel was connected to a physical therapist who was trained in gait and prosthetic rehabilitation by David Lawrence. While in therapy at The Gait Center, Samuel has been able to find his balance and face his fear of walking downstairs. Once overcoming this fear, he was able to set other goals that mattered the most to his life. He has learned to run and is able to join his children out on the soccer field. His participation in Mission Gait’s Discover Your Possible event opened his eyes to the broad array of sports/activities that he is excited to try.
Personal interests: Family and playing sports with his kids.
